Tanzania is the biggest of the East African countries, lies on the coast of the Indian Ocean and is bordered by Mozambique, Malawi and Zambia on the south, Zaire, Burundi and Rwanda in the west and Uganda and Kenya in the north.
The climate of Tanzania is of a tropical nature, with variations between the different geographical regions. The hottest period runs from November to February with the coldest spell in May to August.
There are two main rainfall periods in Tanzania. The rainfall in March to May is usually referred to as the short rains and the period October to December as the long rains, with the rain falling almost every day. |
Some attractions in Tanzania include:
- Mount Kilimanjaro - the highest peak on the continent with its beautiful white snowcapped peaks all year round
- Ngorongoro conservation Area - hosting the magnificent Ngorongoro Crater as well as many animals scattered across the plains
- Serengeti National Park - Tanzania's most famous game park bordering the Masai Mara and home to millions of hoofed animals grazing on the plains
